On The Road: You Might Find Life Is Simpler
Life feels lighter when you carry less—and nowhere has that been clearer to me than living life on the road. Van life has a way of stripping things back to what truly matters. Fewer belongings. Fewer distractions. More presence.
Traveling across the country in my van has been an ongoing reminder that happiness doesn’t require much. I wake up with the sun, make coffee wherever I’m parked, and let curiosity guide the day. Simple routines replace busy schedules, and everyday moments—morning light, quiet roads, wide-open landscapes—become the highlights.
Of course, there are things I miss from time to time—an oven, reliable Wi-Fi and long, hot showers with real water pressure. But those moments of discomfort are part of the lesson. They gently ask me to notice how often we confuse convenience with contentment. And when those little luxuries do show up? They feel like magic.
Living simply on the road has taught me to appreciate what’s essential: movement, nourishment, rest, and connection—to myself and to the world around me. Van life isn’t about escaping real life; it’s about remembering how little is needed to feel grounded, alive, and free.
The road invites a slower pace and a softer way of living. It reminds me that joy is often found in the in-between moments, not in what we accumulate, but in how present we allow ourselves to be.
Sometimes, simplifying your surroundings is the easiest way to reconnect with what truly matters—one mile, one sunrise, one small moment at a time.
